News: Trent Reznor Offers Fountain of Knowledge

Think what you will about his music, but you can’t deny just how monumental Trent Reznor’s influence on the internet and music has been. Sure, Radiohead might have been the first major artist to give away their music, but Reznor isn’t interested in publicity campaigns. This is a man who is trying desperately to see the two worlds survive alongside eachother, as opposed to murdering eachother, and just recently he gave new bands some brilliant advice on how to get their music heard.

Posting on the Nine Inch Nails forum Reznor didn’t mince his words:

“The point is this: music IS free whether you want to believe that or not. Every piece of music you can think of is available free right now a click away. This is a fact – it sucks as the musician BUT THAT’S THE WAY IT IS.” - Trent Reznor

With that in mind, he set out some wise steps that a lot of inexperienced bands might be unsure of taking. I’m not going to repost them all here, but go visit the blog post to read what the man himself said. And if you are a young band, unsure of what to do next or how to get your music heard, then you can’t do much wrong by following one of the best role models of this generation.
